The first five years of a child’s life are the most formative, and as children learn through play, activities are planned to encourage a child’s all round development. Staff in the baby and toddler rooms use the Birth to Three Matters Framework as guidance when creating fun and challenging play sessions, which stimulate as well as educate.
The pre-school team deliver the Foundation Stage Curriculum, as directed by the government. This curriculum is designed to meet the diverse needs of ALL children aged 3 to 5 years, and is divided into 6 areas of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Mathematical Development
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
The weekly and termly planning for pre-school is displayed in the main room enabling parents to always be informed of what their child will be doing whilst at nursery.
Assisting the pre-school team in their delivery of this curriculum we work closely with an early year’s advisory teacher from Stockport LEA.
